Meredith Jacobs Here is a book you’ll have to fight for: “Combat Application Techniques: Principles of Destruction,” by Andrew Curtiss of Fayetteville. I don’t have a copy of the book, so I can’t report to you that I have turned into a person dangerous to know. But the publisher has described the book for me, saying it is “a quick and easy read for anyone interested in learning the basics of effective hand-to-hand combat.” In addition to giving the specific techniques of hand-to-hand combat, Curtiss includes the basic principles of unarmed combat. Curtiss writes that he is a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and Shurite Kenpo/Hakushu. He has received military awards, including the Bronze Star with a “V” for Combat Valor. He specializes in military law-enforcement training and fugitive recovery. “Combat Application Techniques” is illustrated and is for mature readers only.
